BALTIMORE, MD (March 25, 2020) ⁠— Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott will hold an interactive telephone town hall meeting on Thursday, March 26 featuring special guest Dr. Joshua Sharfstein. The town hall will center on the global COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our Baltimore community. 

“Residents need accurate information about the risks of COVID-19 and how to keep themselves safe. This virus is serious, and we must practice social distancing to protect our families, neighbors, and our collective public health.” said Council President Scott. “In addition to our daily live updates on social media, this telephone town hall is important for ensuring critical information is accessible to people who are not on the internet.”

The telephone town hall will start at 6:15PM. Anyone can join by dialing (855) 756 7520 and entering access code 57975#. Questions will be collected during the call, but they may also be submitted ahead of time to councilpresident@baltimorecity.gov

The telephone town hall meeting is free to participate in and open to Baltimore City residents. Any member of the press who plans to attend should RSVP to Stefanie Mavronis at Stefanie.Mavronis@baltimorecity.gov.

Dr. Joshua Sharfstein oversees the Office of Public Health Practice and Training and is director of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative. He holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Previously, he served as the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Principal Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as Commissioner of Health for Baltimore City, and as health policy advisor for Congressman Henry A. Waxman.
