Council President Young issues statement on LGBTQ rights

BALTIMORE, MD - Recently, The Trump administration announced it is considering changing the way it treats transgender people under the law. The transgender community is often incredibly marginalized and this proposed regulation by the Trump administration would be devastating.

The LGBTQ community has responded forcefully, with a march in front of the White House and the slogan “We will not be erased.” 

I stand alongside the transgender community and this Administration’s alarming assault on transgender rights will not be tolerated. We will not remain silent. Transgender people seeking to live their lives deserve the same respect and decency from their representative government as everyone else.

From my position as Council President, I will work tirelessly to fight discrimination, support equality, and strengthen the rights for the transgender community.
