Council President Young to host world renowned Kenyan Boys Choir at City Hall

BALTIMORE, MD – City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young, in partnership with WE.org, is hosting the world acclaimed Kenyan Boys Choir for a performance at Baltimore’s City Hall.

Founded in 2004, The Kenyan Boys Choir is one of Kenya’s most celebrated musical groups. In 2009, the choir performed at the inauguration ceremony of President Barack Obama. Their April 2, 2018, visit to Baltimore’s City Hall is part of the WE Day 2018 Spring Tour, which features visits in cities across the U.S. and UK. The WE Maryland office was opened in February 2017 and currently supports 200 local schools.

Members of the Kenyan Boys Choir are in Baltimore for the upcoming WE Day community Baltimore event, which is taking place on April 11. During their visit to the states, the choir visits schools, corporate partners of WE, and community organizations to express thanks and to spread awareness of WE, their international development programs in Kenya and WE Day.

“Baltimore is in for a real treat of a performance from members of this world-renowned choir,” Council President Young said. “I have followed the Kenyan Boys Choir for years and I’m thrilled that Baltimore will get a chance to experience them first-hand during the U.S. leg of their goodwill tour.”
