Santa’s sleigh to arrive at Baltimore’s City Hall Thursday afternoon

BALTIMORE, MD. - On Thursday, December 14, at 12:30 p.m., Santa and a few of his helpers will transform Baltimore’s City Hall into a winter wonderland filled with thousands of dollars’ worth of bicycles and dolls, Lego sets and board games for children of all ages.

Watch firsthand as the Amazon Holiday Giving team unloads $15,000 worth of toys from Amazon’s 53’ Holiday Giving Truck in advance of a holiday reception being hosted by City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young. The annual reception benefits the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program.

“Thousands of boys and girls from Baltimore City are going to have a truly magical Christmas thanks to the generosity of businesses like Amazon,” said Young, whose annual Toys for Tots Holiday Reception, which began in 2011, has raised more than $250,000 in donated toys for children.

The $15,000 community donation to Council President Young’s Toys for Tots reception represents one of many events on the east coast that are part of a nationwide holiday giving effort to help organizations in need that are located near Amazon fulfillment centers.

“Amazon is proud to support the communities where we live and work and give back to those making a difference in Baltimore,” said Shan Byrne, director of operations at Amazon. “This donation is being delivered by one of our special holiday branded trailers, which normally deliver packages to customers, but this holiday we’re excited to press them into service giving to organizations serving families in need, like Council President Young’s reception benefiting the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program.”

Members of the media are invited to join Amazon at City Hall for this special delivery for Council President Young’s Toys for Tots drive.
