Council President Scott Releases Statement on First Confirmed COVID-19 Case in Baltimore City

BALTIMORE, MD (March 14, 2020) — Baltimore City Council President Brandon M. Scott released a statement Saturday evening on the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Baltimore City:

“This evening, the Maryland Department of Health identified the first positive case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Baltimore City. We anticipated this day, which is why I swiftly put procedures in place for the safe administration of the City Council and why I've been advocating for stronger protections for our most vulnerable residents.

The city will continue to collaborate with state and federal partners and the world class health institutions in this city. I will provide updates as I receive them so that you can stay as informed as possible.

Until we receive more updates, it is important to continue following the guidelines of public health experts, which I have been sharing with you. Continue looking out for the seniors, youth, and people in need of support in our city. Baltimore, we will get through this. And we will do that by doing what we always do: coming together to face our toughest challenges.”
