Council President to Mark 50th Anniversary of March on Washington by Hosting Stirring Performance of "I Have A Dream" Speech
BALTIMORE, MD – City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington by hosting famed re-enactor Stephon Ferguson, the only person licensed by the King Family Estate to perform speeches written by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr..
Mr. Ferguson will travel to City Hall on Wednesday, August 28, which marks the 50th anniversary of the historic march, to perform Dr. King’s stirring “I Have A Dream” speech in its entirety.
“I was a young child in 1963, but I have vivid memories of how our nation united around a demand for equal treatment of all citizens,” Council President Young said. “I am honored to mark this anniversary by hosting a re-enactment of one of Dr. King’s most influential speeches.”
Mr. Ferguson is a former news reporter and talk show host from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He now works as a licensed re-enactor, motivational speaker, gospel comedian, and voice over artist.
