Baltimore, MD — In advance of a delegation of elected officials traveling to Fort Worth, Texas, to interview community members about Chief Joel Fitzgerald's tenure there, City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young released a detailed accounting of the cost of the trip - including the amount paid for airfare, lodging, and ground transportation.

The delegation, which includes President Young, Vice President Sharon Green Middleton, Chairman Robert Stokes, and Chairman Brandon Scott, will be in Fort Worth December 9 to 11 to interview a cross-section of people who have interacted with Dr. Fitzgerald. Once the delegation returns to Baltimore, President Young's office will compile the notes and information gathered on the ground in Fort Worth into a report that will be published and made available to members of the City Council and to the general public.

"The City Council takes seriously its role in the confirmation process for police commissioner. We also value the taxpayers' dollars and have taken every step possible to minimize costs associated with this trip. We take our roles as investigators seriously and have created an aggressive schedule that packs more than 20 actual hours of interviews into less than three full days," Council President Young said.

Note: Council Vice President Middleton's flight discrepancy is due to the fact that she's flying to Fort Worth from a separate conference on the West Coast.
