Council President Brandon Scott's statement
on recent antisemitic attacks in and around New York

"Although these heinous acts did not take place in our City, Baltimore must stand up against antisemitism everywhere."

BALTIMORE, MD (December 30, 2019) — Council President Brandon M. Scott released the following statement following a series of recent antisemitic attacks:

"The horrific attacks in and around New York against our Jewish brothers and sisters remind us that we must remain vigilant at all times against antisemitism. These acts do not reflect the deep love and respect we have for the Jewish community. Baltimore is home to one of the oldest and largest Jewish populations in the country. Although these heinous acts did not take place in our City, Baltimore must stand up against antisemitism everywhere. As one of the last nights of Hanukkah was met with violence and hate, we must always respond with love and compassion, and remember that a light shines in us all."

— Council President Scott
