Council President Brandon Scott Releases Statement on Shooting of Police Officer in Federal Hill

Events like this are visceral and unfortunate reminders of the level of their sacrifice.”

BALTIMORE, MD (May 26, 2020) — Council President Brandon M. Scott released the following statement in response to the shooting of a police officer in Federal Hill:

Tonight, a police officer was shot and injured in Federal Hill while pursuing a suspect.

Even through this public health pandemic, our brave officers continue to put their lives on the line each day to protect our residents and our communities. Events like this are visceral and unfortunate reminders of the level of their sacrifice. My prayers are with the officer and his family during this difficult time, and I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Baltimore is a city where violence still plagues us even during a global pandemic. I implore anyone with information about this incident or any of the incidents we had over the weekend to please let us know.

I thank all of our law enforcement officers for the risks they take each day and the work they do on behalf of our community to make Baltimore safer.

Baltimore must do better.
