Council President Brandon M. Scott Releases
Statement on Shooting in Northeast Baltimore

"I thank all of our law enforcement officers for the risks they take each day and the work they do on behalf of our community trying to make Baltimore safer."

BALTIMORE, MD (February 12, 2020) — Council President Brandon M. Scott released the following statement in response to the shooting of two police officers in Northeast Baltimore:

"Today, two police officers, one from Baltimore City and the other from Baltimore County, were shot and injured in Northeast Baltimore at Radecke Avenue and Cedonia Avenue while attempting to execute an arrest warrant as part of a federal task force.

Our brave officers put their lives on the line each day to keep our residents and our neighborhoods safe. It is devastating when they are injured. My prayers are with these officers and their families in this time of uncertainty. On behalf of the City Council, we wish them a speedy recovery.

This tragic incident hits close to home for my neighbors and me, as it happened in my community just minutes from my home. It’s unacceptable that such a violent act against our officers occurred in the middle of the day in a heavily residential community. I thank all of our law enforcement officers for the risks they take each day and the work they do on behalf of our community to make Baltimore safer."
