Baltimore City Children and Youth Fund Issues Technical Assistance Provider Survey

The inaugural Baltimore Children and Youth Fund (BCYF) is a $12 million non-lapsing fund dedicated to supporting Baltimore’s children, youth and young adults which was voted into establishment by Baltimore City voters in 2016. In 2018, the BCYF will disburse grants to organizations serving children and youth in Baltimore. The Fund’s first grant-making cycle is slated to take place this summer.

In addition to grants, recipients will receive technical assistance in program development, data collection and evaluation, budgeting and financial management (etc.) from experienced vendors. BCYF's planning team is proud to release a survey to learn more about the local landscape of technical assistance and capacity building services and resources that are accessible to youth-led and children and youth-serving organizations in Baltimore City. Information gathered through the survey will be used to inform:

  1. the selection of partner providers to support the delivery of capacity building and technical assistance services to prospective applicants and awarded recipients of the Fund in its first year of operation; and
  2. broader planning efforts focused on strengthening the capacity and infrastructure of local youth-led and children and youth-serving organizations.

We encourage you to complete this survey if you consider yourself:

  • A consultant or solo practitioner serving youth-led and/or children and youth-serving organizations in Baltimore City; and/or,
  • A representative of a fiscal intermediary, organization or firm that provides fiscal sponsorship and/or technical assistance and capacity building services to youth-led and/or children and youth-serving organizations in Baltimore City.

Please find the link to the survey here, which should take roughly 45-60 minutes to complete:

The brainchild of Baltimore City Council President Young, voters in 2016 overwhelmingly approved his charter amendment – Question E – that established a continuing, non-lapsing Children and Youth Fund to be used exclusively to provide supplemental funding to services for children and youth. The fund, a first-of-its-kind initiative for Baltimore, and one of the few dedicated youth funds in the country, established an annual multi-million dollar pot of money for youth-focused, grassroots organizations in Baltimore. ABC is serving as the interim fiscal agent charged with administering grants in the first few years, while developing a community-driven process for administering the Fund over the long-term.
